If you are visiting the beautiful Huntington Beach, you must attend Surf City Nights. Live like a local and hit downtown for a community street fair and farmers market. The food festival is held every Tuesday from 5-9 p.m.

(So I’m cheating a little. This “Festivals in LA” isn’t technically in Los Angeles, but it’s in Huntington Beach so sorta close right? Let’s just go with it.)

Weekly Tradition

After the sun sets, locals and visitors head downtown for the weekly Surf City Nights. The event welcomes street fair food and entertainment while also hosting local farmers with fresh produce and regional artists and merchants. The Tuesday tradition welcomes around 6,000 visitors and 100 merchants each week. Whether you’re looking for $1 tacos, local art or some live entertainment, this festival is for you.

At the farmers market, you will find locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers, baked goods, and many more local delicates. Whereas at the fair merchants, you can grab a bite delicious street food. From tacos, homemade tamales, fresh donuts, bacon-wrapped hot dogs, and eats from local restaurants, you will be sure to find something that satisfies your taste buds. There is also many local musicians and kid play areas. Surf City Nights even had inflatable slides and a petting zoo!

Favorite Finds

There are so many different merchants to visit at the Surf City Nights, it will be hard to see them all in a single visit. However, there are a few top vendors I recommend checking out!

  • Hal’s Apple Farms – Phillip Shin of Ha’s Apple Farm is known as the “apple guy.”  Shin uses pink lady apples grown locally to hand carve animals and other fun characters for visitors. Make sure you stop by if you’re wandering Surf City Nights with kids as he puts on quite the show.
  • Sam Bernal – A local Huntington Beach artist is Sam Bernal. Bernal uses paint pens, acrylics, and spray paint to create beautiful works of art. You can find his fun and colorful artwork on prints, surfboards, clothing, and more.
  • Back Yard Mary – My last favorite find is the Back Yard Mary. Voted #1 bloody mary mix in the world by Cigar & Spirits Magazine, if you love a good bloody mary, you cannot miss this vendor.

Surf City Nights is a terrific food festival in Huntington Beach. The weekly tradition is home to delicious food, local artists, and great entertainment. I highly recommend checking out this food festival if you can!
