Across the world, there are endless food festivals, and while each event offers something a little bit different, it can be hard to determine which food festivals are worth the travel.  I have had the chance to experience hundreds of food festivals across the globe and can recommend these events that are sure to satisfy any true foodie’s taste buds.

Salon du Chocolat

The Salon du Chocolat is a slice of heaven for chocolate lovers. Since 1922, Paris has hosted the chocolate festival that features delights from across the globe. More than just taste testing, the event hosts a chocolate bookshop, chocolate-making workshops, award competitions, live entertainment, a pastry show, and even a fashion show with chocolate clothing! If you are a chocolate lover, you must visit the Salon du Chocolat!

Foodies Festival

What event is better for a true foodie than a Foodie’s Festival? Located in Brighton, this event is the UK’s largest food festival. Whether you want to try delicious treats, meet celebrity chefs, buy fresh produce, learn to bake or barbecue, or take part in eating contests, this event has it all. The Foodies Festival also offers a vintage tea tent where visitors can sit down and enjoy a good cup of British tea.

The Good Food and Wine Show

Another excellent food festival is the Good Food and Wine Show located in South Africa. The event features 200 exhibitors and the latest trends in food and drink. This food festival also welcomes renowned chefs for classes and seminars. One unique aspect of the Good Food and Wine Show is that it showcases healthy living and lifestyle choices and even has a kids theatre where children can learn to make healthy and delicious recipes.

Pizzafest

Who doesn’t love pizza? There are so many different varieties of pizza that there’s something for everyone. Whether you like veggies or pineapple on your slice, or would rather stick to plain cheese, Pizzafest has it all. Located in Naples, Italy, Pizzafest is the world’s largest celebration of pizza. At the festival, not only can you taste delicious pies, you can watch pizza makers show off their skills in the best pizzaiolo (pizza maker) competition. Although I have never traveled to PizzaFest, it is at the top of my list to see!

Bacon Festival

Of course, I have to show love to my home state of California, and it’s annual Bacon Festival. This week-long event is held in Sacramento each year and features bacon delights from over 100 restaurants. I’ve had the opportunity to taste everything bacon from this festival, including bacon salad, bacon ramen, and bacon gelato.

These five festivals are sure to satisfy every true foodie’s taste buds. Although there are hundreds of other notable and delicious events to attend, these are definitely worth the money and travel!
